Short answer: personal instalments are due 15 March, 15 June, 15 September and 15 December 2027, if you are required to pay them (CRA, 2027 tax deadlines fact sheet). The 30 April date is the balance-owing date for the previous year, not an instalment date.
The dates (2027)
| Instalment | Date | Day |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 15 March | Monday |
| 2 | 15 June | Tuesday |
| 3 | 15 September | Wednesday |
| 4 | 15 December | Wednesday |
The CRA's individual instalment page also says farmers and fishers have one due date, 31 December.
CRA reminders
The CRA sends instalment reminders (form INNS1) to people who will likely have to pay: a February reminder covers the March and June payments, and an August reminder covers September and December. You can view them in your CRA account. The reminders suggest an amount and list calculation options. These descriptions are from the page written for 2026; the 2027 reminders are expected to follow the same pattern.
If you did not pay
If you received a reminder and are required to pay but do not, you may have instalment interest and penalty charges (CRA).
Calculation options
If your August reminder does not mention a March or June instalment payment, the CRA lists three options for the 15 September and 15 December payments: pay the amount in box 2 of your reminder (no-calculation option); or pay 75% of your prior-year net tax owing (plus any CPP contributions payable and any voluntary EI premiums payable) on 15 September and 25% on 15 December (prior-year option); or estimate this year's net tax owing and pay 75% and 25% in the same way (current-year option). The option that applies depends on your reminder (CRA, Who has to pay).
